Default Ssd+hdd

Va salut,am cumparat un SSD si vreau sa il pun cu HDD.
Problema este in felu urmator, vreau sa fie amandoua si sdd si hdd in format btrfs, dar vreau ca ce tine de sistem de operare adica arch-ul , programe, si ce mai tine de partitia de root sa fie pe ssd iar partitia de home (locu de stocare,muzica,filme,jocuri etc) sa fie pe HDD.
Pe ext4 stiu sa fac treaba asta,dar vreau sa le fac btrfs pentru ca vad ca pe btrfs se misca mult mai bine, mai repede. (asta e o problema)

Urmatoarea problema este in felu urmator, ca placa de baza P5G41C-M LX are SATA 2, iar SSD are SATA 3, iar la ssd din ce am vazut pe internet ar trebui optiunea de AHCI in BIOS, placa de baza nu are in BIOS optiunea asta. Merge si asa ?

Iar alta problema este ca la montarea ssd-ul difera optiunele fata de HDD, care ar fi optiunele pe Arch ca sa maximizez performantele ssd-ului si sa nu il stric.

Hehe, benchmark-urile arata exact pe dos, ext4 este cel mai rapid filesystem, btrfs este cel mai lent.

Eu unu am observat ca btrfs se misca ceva mai repede, cu niste optiuni de mount, fata de ext4.Mai exact cu optiunele astea:
noatime,nodatasum,nodatacow,space_cache,autodefrag ,commit=10

Ca viteza de citire scriere tot pe acolo erau, dar ma refer ca se deschid mai repede aplicatiile si se incarca sistemu mai repede.

Daca viteza de citire e tot cam pe acolo aplicatiile n-au cum sa se deschida mai repede intr-unul decat in celalalt, probabil e o impresie.

_ va trebui să folosești partiții separate pentru fiecare device (ssd/hdd):
mkfs.btrfs /dev/sda1 (pe care īl montezi ca root fs și instalezi sistemul), iar mkfs.btrfs /dev/sdb1 (pentru home, pe care īl montezi ca atare /mnt/home). Cel puțin eu așa văd lucrurile, nu știu īnsă cum se procedează cu snapshot-urile īn cazul partițiilor. Eu pe sistem nu am tabelelă de partiții (adică nu am /dev/sda1, ci doar dev/sda), și īn loc de clasicele partiții de sistem folosesc subvolume pentru /root, home,var.
_ avānd o placa de bază cu conectori SATA2, SSD-ul va funcționa pe SATA2.

Total de acord ca pe fiecare in parte trebuie partitie separata, dar sa vad daca am inteles.
Ar veni ceva de genu:
mount -o optiunele de mount /dev/sda1 /mnt (pentru ssd)
mount -o optiunele de mount /dev/sdb1 /mnt/home (pentru hdd)

Iar ca optiune de mount pt ssd care ar fi ? Stiu doar de trim,ssd si cam atat.

Da Anbu, dar vroiam sa stiu care is strict pt ssd.Si cum e mai bine sa fie cu discard sau fstrim.

Scuze de dublu post, am rezolvat cu montarea.

mount -o optiuni de mount /dev/sda1 /mnt
mkdir /mnt/home
mount -o optiuni de mount /dev/sdb1 /mnt/home

Si ssd e /, iar hdd e /home.

Treaba asta e un pic ciudata: montezi / in /mnt ??
Eu as propune sa faci altfel si asa n-o sa mai ai dureri de cap: lasi sistemul pe ssd (cu tot cu /home) si HDD-ul il montezi in /mnt/storage, apoi faci un symlink in /home/edy91/storage catre /mnt/storage.
Ca sa ai drept de scriere in /mnt/storage, dupa ce-l montezi faci un
chown -R edy91:edy91 /mnt/storage
si gata !
Ce date ai nevoie sa stochezi le "arunci" in "subdirectorul" ~/storage.
Iac-asa nu te mai doare capul cu snapshot-uri facute pe partitii ciudate ci poti lucra direct cu volume. In fine, avantajul mare al btrfs pe single disk e snapshot-ul, daca nu folosesti asa ceva ramai pe ext4. Senzatia de viteza a btrfs e data de caching-ul zdravan in RAM. Ia incearca sa copiezi de pe SSD pe HDD un fisier mare ce depaseste RAM-ul, sa vezi atunci cat iti ia (de fapt asta e testul concludent btrfs vs. ext4). La inceput va merge foarte repede pana se umple RAM-ul, apoi viteza scade si se stabilizeaza la valoarea reala pe care o poate duce HDD-ul (si aici se va simti cat de cat optimizarea sistemului de fisiere, insa asta conteaza foarte putin pe un singur disk - configuratie non RAID).

Mount-ul se face numai īn cazul instalării sistemului și pentr snapshots, atfel sistemul rulează normal.

E bine ! SSD-ul e un pic tras in jos din 2 cauze:
1) ai porturi SATA 2
2) ai OS-ul pe el
HDD-ul se misca bine !

Venerabilul meu Seagate de 500 GB ... Duce foarte bine si el; asta chiar a fost un model tare reusit !

Acuma, na, toate testele astea merg pe citire directa din cache-ul discului, independent de sistemul de fisiere. Cel mai bun test (care include si performanta sistemului de fisiere) e sa copiezi un fisier baban (mai mare decat RAM-ul !) de pe SSD pe un HDD mecanic (eu folosesc midnight commander, iti afiseaza viteza momentana de transfer) si atunci vezi exact la cat se stabilizeaza.

Da asai e limitat de placa de baza ca e SATA 2.Am copiat un fisier de 10GB, mai exact un film de pe ssd pe hdd si se stabilizeaza undeva intre 95-105 mb/s si asa il duce pana la capat.Iar ca sistem de fisiere amandoua sunt btrfs.
Dar Arch-ul "zboara",de cand incepe sa booteze si pana sa ajung sa pun parola, ii ia cam 2-3 secunde.Ce sa zic e diferenta cer pamant intre un hdd si un ssd.
